Afternoon Tea – A little history

Afternoon Tea is unmistakably a truly English custom known worldwide, with origins inmid19th century England.
The history of afternoon tea started in the year 1840 with the British 7th Duchess of Bedford, Anna. Dinner was usually served at 9 pm which left the Duchess hungry and to stave this, she would order tea, bread (with fillings) and cakes in her room at around 4pm. The habit caught on as she would also invite friends to join her. Soon after, afternoon tea was born!
