Antique Jackson & Gosling Apple Green Teacup and Saucer Duo

Antique Jackson & Gosling (Ltd) Duo

Circa 1914

Item Code 0134JGD

Product Description

An elegant antique apple green teacup and saucer duo.  Manufactured in circa 1914 by Jackson & Gosling (Ltd), Grosvenor Works, Longton, Staffordshire Potteries, England.  (Established in circa 1866 at Kings Street, Fenton.  From 1909 address changed to Longton. Various changes in ownership between 1866 – 1961). The teacup is an elegant Adelaide shape which has a nice wide brim and a dainty footed base. The beautiful bright apple green colour stands out well against the contrasting white base tone. Both teacup and saucer are gently scalloped and gilded around the rims. Further gilding is enhanced through an elegant balcony design and band of patterns around the edge. The central hand painted motif of pretty florals adds a pop of contrasting colour in the design.

Teacup height 5.5cm

Teacup diameter 9.5cm

Saucer diameter 13.5cm

Pattern No. 5385

Condition: This duo is in very good antique condition. The central pattern and green base colour is nice and bright. There is evidence of wear to the gilding but nothing that detracts from the beauty of this duo. As with older bone china there are some dimples and firing spots which point to age. (Click on About Our China for more details on condition).

There is a pattern number at base of  saucer but no makers name which is normal with older china.

This is a delightful duo which could be matched up well to create a bespoke tea set.
