A superb antique Wileman teacup, saucer and teaplate trio in the Victoria shape. Wileman (later renamed Shelley and sometimes called Foley) was one of the most respected manufacturers of fine bone china tea sets in the late 19th Century, and many of their products are now collector’s items. Manufactured in circa 1884 by Wileman & Co, Foley Potteries and Foley China Works, Fenton, Longton, England. Designed in the popular, bold ‘Japan’ Imari pattern with red, cobalt blue enamel and gold colours on a crisp white background. Handpainted gold hearts frame the deep red flower motifs which are beautifully decorated on all pieces. The teacup is small and a nice inverted ‘A’ line shape with an angular shaped dainty gold handle. All the rims are solid and are well gilded which adds to richness to the pattern.
